Excellent point. And neither of us really knows the answer. The Palestinians now say they wished to continue to negotiate, that they made a mistake by not getting back to the table soon enough. I genuinely don't know whether that's true or not. Nor do you.

What I object to is the notion that therefore it must mean that all Palestinians simply wish to push Israel off the map.

The last time I saw Clinton argue on this one, he agreed that the offer from Barak was a good one, that the Palestinians made a huge mistake not to take it, but that the failure to take it was not evidence that they wished to drive the Israelis into the sea.
