I would think the military is better equipped for hunting snipers then police are. Never thought I would live to see the day that we would fly close air support over US cities until 9-11 so I guess this isn't all that surprising anymore.

Flip side is the military kills enemy snipers and isn't real well trained for protecting civil rights and such.
