No, it makes no sense to me to treat man as a valuing being while excising from him the means of making evaluations. Nor does it make sense to me to treat him as a responsible being and then assume that there are no circumstances where he should be blamed. I consider it, quite literally, nonsense, and I cannot imagine how an otherwise intelligent person can hold to it. I understand how one can consider enlightened self- interest the measure; I understand how you can regard purely personal choices as having no moral component; but I do not understand how you can take the position that it is possible to be moral without praise and blame, including those internalized forms of guilt/shame and self- satifaction/pride.

As for how we treat it, well, that depends on a multitude of factors. As that is a touchy matter, though, I don't think I will review them.......
