dj, That sounds awfully pollyannish. You're discounting the reality that there is a large and committed base of Islamofascists who will deeply resent and respond to an occupying army of infidels in any part of Arabia. The more likely outcome of an occupation of Iraq is widespread terrorism and an ever escalating cycle of reprisal from Washington vs. "the Street". Not a picture of peace and prosperity. A picture of vast prosperity for arms merchants forced to live in ever more remote gated and locked communities away from the fray and the disorgization of civil society for the other 99% of us. This elite vision of a gated Heaven and a terrorized and terrified Hell here on Earth is worth resisting, IMO. Bush's vision is fatally flawed in that it destroys the future of the planet for the bulk of humanity for the sake of a criminally corrupted few. -Ray
