I never disagreed with that. I think Islam has f*cked up elements, but so does Christiniaty, Hinduism, and even Buddhism. The problem I have is putting one religion over another.
There are plenty of examples of Christian atrocities.

Do Abortion clinic bombings count?

No argument with you there. And yes there are certainly atrocities in western society... the treatment of minorities in the south would be first on my list of these type of practices (abortion clinic bombings don't quite count because afaik politicians are truly treating these people as the criminals that they are).

As far as American/Western society not condoning such horrid behavior. Is it because the perpetrators are not Christians or society is not?

Emphatically, no. The difference between christian human atrocities "in the name of God" vs. Islamic equivalents is simply volume. You have your occasional Waco incident in the US... society dismisses this as a fringe element disaster and the media talks about the catastrophe for YEARS... innocent lives lost, how could we have handled it better, etc. vs. the muslim scenario where women are being brutalized and in some cases murdered DAILY.

Name one other society, western or otherwise, that considers the EDUCATION of 50% of its population a subversive act. Or one where certain groups are not allowed to provide for themselves and their families by working. In other words, the *betterment* of a whole group of people is outlawed!! In the name of God, of course.

You have to go back hundreds of years to find this treatment of human beings in other societies. (note that I'm not saying it never happened in the west)

Perhaps the real solution for the Middle East is a separation of church and state?

Novel idea, huh?

Agreed.
