Aided by a series of management misques, I have silently watched the forces of darkness surround MXO.

Some hedge funs, cartels of professional and day traders and the powerful option crowd have used these misques to raise concern about Maxtor's solvency and drive the price of this equity to irrational lows. Nothing more than an overdone bit of prattle aided by the hobgobblins of less gifted minds!

Now these forces of darkness have been joined by the greed driven IPO crowd to spread doubt and decit among the faithful. Too many coincidences to ignore this evil plot!

Conservations with the well-informed have produced the following:

1. While yields are somewhat lower than plan, MXO has adequate component supply for the 80 GB.
2. Industry inventories are well managed and pricing is not under pressure.
3. MXO continues to produce 40GB-5400 rpm drives.
4. MXO continues to penetrate the enterprise market.
5. MKE exit, NAS departure, cost cuts will make significant improvement to MXO's future bottom line.

We must get through another grim conference call before the forces of darkness are defeated and we see the shining blue light at the end of this long tunnel.
