FSI International Appoints Edmund Tang President of Asian Business

Tuesday October 15, 8:08 am ET

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 15, 2002--FSI International, Inc. (Nasdaq:FSII - News) recently named Edmund Tang president of its Asian business. In his new role, Mr. Tang is tasked with leading FSI's Asia-Pacific operations in order to align FSI's portfolio of products and customer support operations to meet the regional requirements. He will manage the company's Asia-Pacific operations from the FSI office in Hsin Chu City, Taiwan.
"Improving FSI's communications and collaboration with Asian customers is particularly important at this critical time in the industry as FSI seeks to increase its global market leadership," commented Dean Duffy, vice president of sales and service at FSI. "Ed's extensive experience and exposure to the Asian markets will play a pivotal role in positioning us for the next industry upturn, while also increasing customer confidence in FSI's ability to address the specific needs of this multi-faceted region."

The appointment comes in connection with FSI's recent announcement on October 9, 2002, regarding the early termination of its distribution agreements with Metron Technology (Nasdaq:MTCH - News) and the decision to sell and support its products directly in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. Developing an international direct structure is in response to customer requests for stronger global capabilities.

Prior to joining FSI, Mr. Tang was with Texas Instruments for 25 years in various engineering and management positions. Most recently, he was vice president of quality for TI's Memory Division, managing its worldwide quality organizations. He also served as a TI vice president managing the regional memory business in Asia. In those positions, he was highly involved in gaining new business and improving the Memory Division's technical marketing, multi-national customer support, regional outsourcing and quality control efforts.
