ROFLMAO!! Lee-- you forget I am but a lowly govt employee too. How is BRKB too rich? I know you look at % and not $$. So,, if you are goung to make a $25K trade which is easier, 12 shares of BRKB or 100 shares of a $25 issue? Next-- remember BRK has never had a down year since '65,,, NOT ONE. History says if you hold a year or buy lower than the Jan 2 price of any year you will gain. Over the past 13 months I have purchased BRKB anywhere from 2020 through 2428 and sold from 2490 - 2588. All profits have been turned into holding shares at an avg of 2236 during that period. If you do not like 4 diget #s try WPO. In the past few weeks I purchased it @ $633, $617, & $636. Todays close $701.51. It closely tracks BRKB, which owns a bunch of it too. Notice,, these are not techs,,LOL. I do the same with profits from this issue-- holding shares bought on a big dip. During the time frame mentioned 636 is the highest paid and mid-500 the lowest. The highest shares purchased were bought 9/4 @ $636.15. Those are only up 10.27% as of todays close. Through the bear these have been the issues I traded most often and never a down trade. I sleep well holding these both as traders and as holders. Now-- shall I hold the F shares overnight tomorrow? Avg pd 7.28 & earnings tomorrow,, todays close 8.87. Greed has set in on MAS. Bought it yesterday @ 18.57 closed today @ 19.59,, just hate selling it lower than the usual 21 - 23...LOL! It really has not been a bad year!
You are correct -- framing is easy. Even with lumber prices some what low it is not cheap. Getting under roof is fast and progess is easily seen. The guts can kill ya. Plumbers and electricians should keep a .357 in their tool belt as when they hand ya the bill--- they get about the same hourly rate as an escort! No reason to pay for them to drill holes run wire or PVC. They are needed to install the service and connect to city sytems. Cut your labor costs by about 70%. The remodel I'm starting includes replacing all interior trim-- baseboard plus window & door trim was est just over $1400 wholesale. I made bigger & better with a table saw, router, & shaper for a bit more than $600. You can install it all (inc doors) with a good miter saw (& @ my age an air nailer for comfort & speed). Even after purchasing these items that you will always find uses for, the savings are substancial--- but you can usually borrow or rent them too. Drywall is cheap. It is next to impossible to hang it alone, but a friend or 3 and a couple cases of beer gets it hung easy enough. I always hire a good finisher though. Yes-- it takes longer doing the work yourself and additional living expenses must be included but there is a ton of bux to be saved. Every bank is happy to give a construction loan but most require a general contractor and turn the loan into a conventional mortgage in 6 - 9 months. They expect to see progress as they supply funds. For those reasons you do not have a lifetime to finish. From the day the basement is dug until completion I usually expect 5 - 7 months on a typical 2300 - 2700 sq ft ranch or 2 story. BTW-- a 2 story is always cheaper to build. Many contractors give a cost per sq ft and push for a two story... less roof and less basement,, all other costs compareable. Speaking of roof & basement--- I'm too old to lay block and shingles.
As for INTC getting tired of pissing on the party--- for the $$ those guys are paid they can care less. Add in their cheap tons of options and share price means nothing. Just one of the T stocks I traded long ago,,;-]
