"We have received license plate information from several witnesses," Chief Manger said.
It literally takes two seconds to check out license plate numbers. The fact "several" people reported them likely means the police already know who owns the van. Yet, of course, no arrest. This would most likely imply, as we suspected, the killers weren't afraid to be seen in the same Chevy Astro van because they weren't afraid of being associated with it. The other slight possibility is that they've fled. If so, I'd think the police would have not only released the tag numbers (in the event the van is missing as well), but the names and pictures of the suspects as well, not just a composite sketch.
If the killers have been following the news then they obviously now know it would be almost sure capture if they, once again, used the same white van. Of course, assuming the van is secreted away, they could always simply switch plates, or simply steal (another) car. I'm guessing the van is stolen now because if it were part of a fleet then the police would likely be able to gain the cooperation of the true owner to get driver information or match possible drivers with their sketch.
a witness who reported seeing the gunman step brazenly from his van in the indoor parking garage, about 90 feet from Linda Franklin
I saw lines of cops on TV searching the parking lot for evidence. I didn't hear one report of a shell casing being found which one would expect if the shooting took place outside the van, 90 feet away. This implies to me the killer would not be using at AR-15 but a bolt action rifle where the casing remains in the chamber. Gun owners, does this make sense?
