If we don't have the stomach for it, we should not try because we will fail. I don't think it's a question of stomach, it's a question of self-interest. What self-interest does it serve? There's a short term self-interest that's PR related. But long term do we really care whether or not Afghanistan falls into anarachy? As long as they leave westerners alone we don't care. That might sound a bit cynical. Consider Indonesia [Bali], that story would have been a page 8 story if it was only Indonesians that would have been killed by terrorists. There's plenty of places around the world where 187 deaths is small pototoes, the difference is they're not westerners. Indonesia wasn't a paradise of tranquility before this bombing. No one cared then ... westerners had holiday places to go to. jttmab
