BETHESDA, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 9, 2002--InforMax, Inc. (Nasdaq:INMX - News), a market leader providing life scientists with informatics software solutions and services, is introducing Vector PathBlazer(TM), a new desktop application for the integration of diverse biological pathway and protein-protein interaction data.
Vector PathBlazer was created to meet strong market demand from researchers seeking an accessible and affordable software solution for the integration and analysis of biological pathways and protein-protein interaction data from multiple sources.

It is the only application available on the market that allows researchers to combine their own data on pathways, reactions and protein-protein interactions with data from curated public as well as private sources all into a central integrated dataset. This new functionality greatly enhances scientists' ability to discover novel reactions and pathways and to generate new hypotheses.

The software also enables users to filter protein-protein interaction data sets resulting in an enriched analysis of biologically relevant interactions. In addition, users may import and visualize gene expression results from any source within the context of pathways and protein-interaction networks.

"We are very excited about the opportunities that Vector PathBlazer will create for our customers. Vector PathBlazer will allow them to better utilize and merge data from various sources into a fully integrated solution. This will in turn significantly enable a researcher's work in functional genomics and enhance hypothesis testing," said Andrew Whiteley, Chairman and CEO of InforMax. "Drawing from market research and continued customer interaction, we at InforMax are continuing our efforts to build practical and powerful informatics solutions for scientists and their organizations."

Vector PathBlazer is part of the Vector Family of Products, a modular informatics solution designed by InforMax scientists for researchers who want to speed and simplify the management and analysis of life sciences data.

The Vector Family of Products expands on InforMax's proven, industry-leading Vector NTI Suite. It includes tools for protein and DNA sequence analysis, genomic DNA sequence analysis, gene expression analysis and systems biology.

The modular architecture of the Vector products allows scientists to select the solution that works best for them -- ranging from individual desktop research tools to an integrated, multiple application platform enabling functional-genomic workflow and robust hypothesis testing.

The Vector Family's shared data solutions are easy to integrate, and help life science organizations ensure that their informatics infrastructure keeps pace with their changing scientific and business needs on a cost-effective basis.
