If you do not remember that it was the Catholic Church, you do not remember the book. What did you think all of those Latin quotations from the Bible and various Catholic prayers were about? Why did you think there was a Pope, and a New Rome? Why do you think that Thon Taddeo was worried that the monks would be upset if he did not adhere to the Biblical account of Genesis, or that the Abbot noted that St. Augustine had pointed out that the beginning of Genesis was inconsistent and "told in the manner of a folktale"? Why do you think the Order was concerned with getting the Blessed Leibowitz canonized? Why do you think that Benjamin argued with one of the Abbot's about the doctrine of the Trinity? Or that that Abbot made a strong stand against euthanasia?
