Doug, I think you and I agree for the most part. IMHO, the air war will begin in December, with the troops going in during January. Pretty much like the last time. This time, we will take Saddam out, and then make every effort to make friends of the Iraqis. I do believe they may well become allies, perhaps sooner than you think.

It is very important in the battle against Al Qaeda that we take out Saddam decisively. They (Al Qaeda) exist with the help and support of state sponsors. Directly or indirectly. We need to show those states what is coming if they continue to give aid and support to terrorists. And we need to be somewhat ruthless about it, in spite of the handwringers and pacifists. If we do it, we can be safe again. If we fail to act decisively, we will never be safe.

I'm headed to Europe tomorrow. We will see what the real pulse is over there. Europe, like the UN, could become awfully irrelevant if they are not careful.
