Let me ask you this Stan.

What criteria do you use to judge when something
is figurative - literal - or absolute?

When Christ said:

Luke 23:34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.

What did that mean?

What did Jesus mean when he said this the night before:

John 17:9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world,
but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.

How do you understand these apparently contradictory statements?

I ask again:

What criteria do you use to judge when something
is figurative - literal - or absolute?
