I know the topic was about lying. I was trying to show you through a little sarcasm the paradox you were imposing on the President by your objections to what he says and does.

Imposing farm subsidies while espousing free trade does not constitute a lie either. The question is, what is in the best interests of the United States? If Canada dumps cheap lumber on our markets because environmentalists have driven our lumber industry into the ground, it's a natural consequence. If other countries impose tariffs on our goods, it's a natural consequence for us to impose a tariff on their steel.

If the other countries didn't impose tariffs on our goods and we imposed a tariff on their steel, it would be worth a second look. The deciding factor should be what's best for the United States, given the big picture.

I differ with the President on campaign finance reform. He never should have signed that bill. It infringes on first amendment rights, and could have dire consequences. We shall see.
