Its the number and type of processors that Intel sells that gives the best indication of Microsoft's earnings. Unfortunately I didn't listen to the Intel cc so haven't got much insight.

Intel ASPs were down. If that means they didn't sell many of the more expensive server chips then that will hit MSFT. If it just means that Intel had to drop prices then it is difficult to say although if conditions are tough, then corporations aren't going to be renewing systems. By systems I don't mean PC's, I mean the whole infrastructure of PCs and servers on a network with associated software.

A desktop gets bought here and there, but no corporate wide drive, for example, to move from NT to 2000, or ME to XP.

So my guess is MSFT will be at the low range or even disappoint. However, I shorted IBM yesterday so don't listen to me!
