Now I know for sure that the journalists were not kidding when they reported that the AK47s were regularly picked up by US troops to use on the enemy.

How very practical! Not only was the AK47 more reliable in that environment but it could also use M1 ammo! Of course, the flipside was that some Viet forces were very seldom short of ammo!
