This is a small city and distances are close. By living in a central area Mike has already made a lifestyle choice that saves gas by a factor of at least 3. Come to think of it he has probably earned the Suburban instead of the Tahoe.

It's the embarcadero commuters spending an hour each way in their grotesque Humvees and enormous Expeditions that need to reconsider their relationship with the House of Saud. Never any snow in winter and the only thing ever towed is a hitch, likely sporting a 3/8" ball.
