I've spent some quality time with my calculator this evening over at the "layoff's" thread.

from October 1 to tonight, there have been 69,432 layoffs - and the month isn't over yet.

...and that number doesn't count non-public companies that aren't required to post their layoff numbers publicly.

ouch

so now this week, we have:

crappy book to bill

doctored earnings (even outright fibbing)

even higher valuations

massive gaps

higher unemployment

lower production numbers

crappy philly fed....

lower retail estimates

options expiration

almost everything under the sun is above max pain

and sear's is down, too!! arrrggggggghhh

war is looming

cia warning of terrorism

domestic sniper

pension fund reductions

a rebalancing of the s&p because most of the companies they picked last year sucked so they're rebalancing at the bottom...

...and lions and tigers and bears, oh my! -g-
