Microsoft, Matsushita to brief on digital tech October 17, 2002 10:24:00 PM ET TOKYO, Oct 18 (Reuters) - U.S. software giant Microsoft Corp (MSFT) and Japan's Matsushita Electric Industrial Co said on Friday they would hold a joint news conference at 2 p.m. (0500 GMT) on new technology for digital media content. Microsoft's corporate vice president, Susumu Furukawa, and Tokikazu Matsumoto, director of Matsushita's home audio-visual unit, will attend the meeting. Both companies declined to elaborate on the briefing. Shares in Matsushita, one of the world's biggest consumer electronics makers with its Panasonic brand, rose 1.41 percent to 1,295 yen in the morning session, underperforming the Nikkei average , which rose 1.95 percent.
