Jeff ...

I concur with your overall idea.

however ===
>>>>>>Obviously when you drive to a school and shoot a kid, you aren't being random about your type of victim. So if he was this selective at least once, why not other times as well?

I didn't mean to imply that he was not "selective" and was random in victim choice ....
did a poor job of saying what I meant .....
I feel he sets his "kill zone" first as most important TO HIM ....
THEN ...
the target "selects itself" by entering into that zone.....

Sure, he picked a kid in response to the statement that the sniper wasn't shooting kids .....
no doubt about that.

I feel that he most likely has a spotter with him to observe potential trouble *(to them... cops, closeby potential witness, etc)
and
that he most likely sights in a couple of different victims in his killing zone before finally pulling the trigger ...
passes on each for various reasons until the situation is perfect for his "one shot kill" to happen.....

Nem

ps
to the Shootmiester (Shootie) ...
that Thompson Contender is one great pistola, and, indeed, would be a great choice of weapon for what is transpiring ...
that being said, and before I'm convicted of being a :"gun nut" here on the thread ...
I'm all in favor the ballistic fingerprint for ALL guns sold and repaired .....
