Where are you, can I ask?

Sierra Mountains now :) Now longer a SV person but I know truck loads of folks there. Just heard on the radio yesterday from the guy who represents the entire tech industry in SV that he doesn't see a turn around in the SV job market for quite some time yet. Something about over 100k job losses so far and still going in the negative. They had the guy on just after another company announced lay-offs. I didn't catch what company was going under the axe.

As far as employment 'increasing' in some areas that may be true. I heard that PSFT was hiring for the first time in over a year. Although they were only hiring a handful of people in very selected areas. Offsetting these few hiring’s here and there are the companies quietly going under all across the valley. If business doesn't pick up in the next year or so how many of the new start-ups do you think will be left? I imagine they are burning threw cash at a horrendous rate right now. If SEBL isn't pulling in new business what hope is there for the little guy? This will, of course, help the SEBL/PSFT's of the world when it’s all over with.

Don't get me wrong. I am not 'anti' SEBL/PSFT or anyone else. I am just a very picky buyer at this point. If we have 'made the turn' I will happily buy SEBL at 20 if need be. But I don't want to buy SEBL at 6-7-8 only to watch it melt to 2-3 in the next 6 months. My motto STILL is... cash will never hurt me. I'm not investing here. Investing now is gambling - it's not investing.
