You seem to have some very strange ideas about the benevolence of Ho Chi Minh.

I think your idea of "freedom" and my idea is much the same. I have no delusion about communism. Ho Chi Minh had his problems. He did his best in that direction as did many of his supporters as best they could.

Did the USA do their part?

Frankly, lack of success, says lessons are there to be learned.

Vietnam wishes to have good relations with the USA these days. A war won by indirect means. Short cuts were available imho.
