>>I hope no one calls you on this<<
According to my husband, there are three kinds of .50 caliber rifle.
1. There are a few heavy hunting rifles, such as the .50 Alaskan, which are used for hunting moose, kodiak bears, and other large game.
2. There are black powder rifles, which are used for hunting during black powder season. Deer and all other large game. Many states set aside special hunting seasons for muzzle loaders, as you know.
3. There are rifles chambered for the Browning .50 machine gun cartridge. These are exactly what you'd want when you are knocking over a liquor store (sarcasm). They are about five feet long, weigh upwards of 30 pounds, and cost over $2500. Seriously, their purpose is for long range target shooting at ranges of up to a mile.
4. There is also a .50 caliber handgun, the .50 Action Express. This is more powerful than, but similar to, the .44 magnum.
People who don't like guns have a hard time understanding that some people have legitimate uses for guns.
Hunting, target shooting, self defense, are all legitimate uses for guns.
My family (husband and boys) goes target shooting at least once a week. My own eyesight isn't good enough for target shooting, so they go without me, but I can see that they get a lot of fun out of it. |
