I don't know why, CB, but this article made me think of you.

NOT surprisingly, then, lacking any evidence of what may come, people are grasping for patterns in the sniper's previous actions — an abstract form of risk regulation.

Henry Niman, a biochemist from Pittsburgh who started an e-mail message group devoted to last year's anthrax attacks, now finds the group immersed in sniper minutiae. After the assassin struck twice near Michaels crafts stores, Dr. Niman calculated that nearly half the shootings had taken place within a half-mile of the Michaels stores. He also traced the shooting sites on a map, and found they created two separate triangles, one pointing north, the other pointing south. "I was trying to predict where he was going to hit next," Mr. Niman said. "I just connected the dots."
