Elect,

I am a Preterist because I could no longer justify the scripture wresting that Futurist views of scripture require

I can accept your answer at face value that you sincerely see a preterist POV in the Word and that you cannot reconcile a futurist one. As I have said though, a doctrine must answer more questions than it raises.

I cannot take many of them literally in good conscience even if I wanted to.

Whether you can take a verse literally in good conscience is not material to truth, since your conscience is not the final arbiter of truth.

Who is the "them" in that statement?

"Them" would be those who were putting Him to death. It was important for Him to ask for forgiveness for them so that His blood could speak better things to God than that of Abel, which cried out to God against his murderer. Jesus' blood is for salvation for all who repent and believe.

As to Matthew 16: 27 and 28: Why could not it have meant seeing the Coming of the Son of Man in a vision, as John (who was standing there), was to see in Revelation?

Here is a question for you, if I may ask:
When does a Christian get resurrected?

Thank you.

Stan
