You say she passed on information- she seems to think she was giving an opinion. Obviously opinions differ.

The sheik called for the end of a cease fire in a letter he dictated to Yousry, his "translator."
The sheik's statement was dictated to the Islamic Group leaders, but they doubted its authenticity.
Stewart was able to make clear to them what the sheik wanted them to do by using the press to convey not any opinion of hers, but the will of the sheik.
The translator was supposed to be translating. Instead, he was taking down the sheik's orders to his terrorist troops. Stewart admitting facilitating his communication with terrorists, as she had sworn not to do.
Stewart, the translator Yousry and the sheik seemed to be enjoying tricking the guards into thinking that she and the sheik were having a lawyer-client conversation, when in fact the sheik was dictating a statement to Yousry. At one point she joked that she should get an acting award.
Her own attorney, Michael Tigar, isn't even claiming she was merely expressing an "opinion." He will claim, according to Packer, that she was "speaking out on behalf of the sheik."
You note your dislike of the SAM. How would you, X, frame a regulation prohibiting participating in criminal activities, specifically violent ones, but let's include others, from behind bars? And prohibiting lawyers from acting as criminal or terrorist agents/facilitators, as Lynne Stewart did, according to the DOJ repeatedly?
BTW, what do you think of Stewart agreeing with Sattar to issue a public statement falsely claiming that Rahman was being denied medical treatment when in fact prison authorities had pleaded with Rahman's wife to persuade him to take his medication? |
