Ted the Domino theory was pushed by a lot of people with different ideas and agendas. To pretend it is simply one exact unvarying thing makes no sense.

Tim, who do you think coined the domino theory.....Reagan?

When it came to Asia, there was one domino theory...not twenty variations. It was a military term that got into the American lexicon and has been applied to other situations but that doesn't change its original application. After all, Eisenhower had been a general before he was president.

Why do you think I pointed out that particular link?

Also the Domino theory would not really have bee unproven totally invalid even if Laos and Cambodia didn't fall. Our intervention could have helped to avoid those countries falling to communism. In the end it failed but the Domino theory would only have been 100% proven wrong if we did almost nothing and no other country in the region besides South Vietnam fell to communism.

Is this an example of "hope springs eternal"; otherwise, I do not understand the point of the above comments.
