Not much success rate with adults
I smoked 2 to 3 packs a day for 20 years. In 1974, I knew I had to quit, and kept seeing the TV ads by Chuck Conners, "Old Ironjaw" for the Schick Shadel program. I took the program, which consisted of setting at a desk, with an electrode connected to my wrist, and smoking while the electrode was used to "Sting" me. This was done once a day for 5 days. The electrode was uncomfortable, but not that painful. After that, I never smoked again.
I used their program for Alcohol in '92. That was a 10 day Hospital stay, and they nauseated me, and made me guzzle booze, which I immediately threw up, every other day over 10 days. I never drank again, and attend no meetings.
Their programs were never liked by the AMA, and are just about out of use today. They still have a "Shick-Shadel" Hospital in Seattle. Great Programs! Without them I am sure I would be dead today of either Lung or Liver Cancer. |
