< I took the program, which consisted of setting at a desk, with an electrode connected to my wrist, and smoking while the electrode was used to "Sting" me. This was done once a day for 5 days. The electrode was uncomfortable, but not that painful. After that, I never smoked again.

I used their program for Alcohol in '92. That was a 10 day Hospital stay, and they nauseated me, and made me guzzle booze, which I immediately threw up, every other day over 10 days. I never drank again, and attend no meetings.

Speak of the Devil. Freedom and Goose-stepping in aversion therapy madness straight out of "A Clockwork Orange".

Lindy, you are the captain of your soul. No need for electrodes and retching chemicals. Deciding what to do is simple. Giving up smoking and drinking [and coffee and weight-lifting and dope and anything else people use to habit-form] are easy. Heck, I've done it hundreds of times.

As soon as you really decide something, that's it! No need for any muck. Just decide for yourself what you will and won't do. Go read Tim McVeigh's epitaph.

You don't need external agents such as electric shocks and toxins to do your thinking for you. The fun is in taking charge of yourself and rejecting outside influences, such as electric shocks, nausea pills, coffee, cigarettes and booze.

You should go and smoke a few cigarettes just to have the fun of deciding not to do it and to prove to you that you are in charge of you and that a plant is not in charge of you and neither is advertizing, social context, nervousness, fear etc.

Maybe have a couple of gin and tonics AND some cigarettes to really show who's in charge of you.

Who's in charge of me? I AM! NOT Janet Reno and NOT the USA and not cigarettes and not booze and not my friends and not my employer and not my money and not my parents and not the police and not anyone. I am the captain of my soul. Not bloody Mqurice either and I will NOT take his stupid advice.
