| Sure, although Nietzsche is a much better source for such a discussion than Frank Herbert. However, there is a complicated relationship between Nietzsche's thought and Nazi ideology. Nietzche depised proto- Nazi movements, German nationalism, and anti- semitism. On the other hand, he hated socialism, revered Napoleon for trying to unite Europe, and was tainted with 19th century racism, and even speculations about eugenics. Some of his ideas lent themselves, in a vulgar version, to Nazi thought. The fact that he condemned the (ancient) Jews for the "slave morality" expressed in the concepts "good and evil", and despised Christianity for imposing this slave morality on the more vigorous races of Europe, was perfect for Nazi propaganda. Thus, there is some connection to this idea that "good and evil" are inferior to "honor", and the Nazis...... |
