In the 60's there were two crowds of protestors. There were those who wanted change. They wanted freedom to mean just that. Not just freedom for whites and males. There voice was moral and from it the civil rights movement came about. I was one of those voices in my music and in my actions. I however did not spit on the soldiers who fought as ordered by their country.
At the same time there were the BRING IT ALL DOWN man crowd. I knew many people like that and they just hated. Kind of reminds me of the Wyatt Earp movie where Doc Holiday says " He hates because he was born".
I believe that the Bring it all down crowd, mostly left wing radicals with communist ideals, has taken over the liberal movement. Many people like me have lined up with the so-called conservative movement because we do not believe in giving government the power to decide who should get ahead in life.
There are two camps of liberals, the classical liberal and the statist. The statists believe in surrendering their freedom to a huge government bureaucracy that will create equality for all

De Tocqueville stated it clearly. "There exists in the human heart a depraved taste for equality, which impels the weak to attempt to lower the powerful to their own level, and reduces men to prefer equality in slavery to inequality with freedom"
