If you can entice JXM onto a sailboat, I'd like to know what your secret is. He is only interested in gofast boats. He doesn't quite appreciate the nuances of sailing. I feel like I've failed in my duties.

Recently had a major adrenalin rush on a sail down to Newport. There was a hurricane in Mexico which was causing seas of 10 feet and winds gusting to 30 knots. The auto pilot doesn't work going downwind so I had to stay on the wheel. The average speed of the boat is usually 6-7 knots on a good day. I was surfing down the face of the waves doing 10-11 knots, which exceeded the hull speed. I kept saying "This is really stupid. You're a senior citizen out sailing in a storm by yourself." But I must say it was a lot of fun.
