NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., July 22 /PRNewswire/ -- John Martin, Chairman and CEO of Newriders, Inc. (Nasdaq: NWRD) said today that he has added two experienced, senior industry executives to the Newriders, Inc. Board of Directors. Martin, former Chairman and CEO of Irvine, CA-based Taco Bell Worldwide, said that Wayne L. Knyal and Daniel J. Gallery have agreed to join the Board, bringing the total to seven. Knyal is the founder, President and CEO of Franchise Mortgage Acceptance Co., LLC (FMAC), a subsidiary of Imperial Credit Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq: ICII), the nation's leading provider of restaurant franchise financing. FMAC has provided more than $1.4 billion in financing to such well known concepts as Taco Bell, Wendy's, Burger King, KFC and others. Gallery is a co-founder and Executive Vice President of Carts of Colorado, known internationally for its expertise in mobile and modular merchandising systems for non-traditional retailing locations. For the PepsiCo family of restaurants, Gallery's company has added over 4,000 feeding locations with over $1 billion in annual revenues over the last five years. Martin stated, "If we expect to build a world-class company, we need a world-class Board of Directors, and that's what we're doing. I hope to complete the Board within the next month or two with at least one more seasoned, talented and capable executive that has the knowledge, skills and contacts to help us with the fast-track expansion of what I think is an exceptional concept." Martin also said that William R. Nordstrom, founder, President and CEO of National Investors Council, a Newport Beach, CA-based financial publishing and communications firm, was elected to the Board on July 8, 1997, and will become Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration, effective September 1, 1997. Newriders, Inc. is the owner and operator of two "Easyriders Cafe" restaurants, one in Fresno, California and the other in Celebrity Square at Broadway at the Beach, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The Easyriders Cafe concept includes a bar and restaurant with extensive motorcycle memorabilia based on the Easy Rider movie and the motorcycle lifestyle promulgated by Easyriders Magazine. Each cafe, which has bar stools fashioned out of motorcycle seats, also incorporates a merchandise shop with motorcycle-themed apparel and accessories, and, in some cases, a motorcycle sales, service and accessories store.
