Michael, for one who lives in peace as an inhabitant of the Global Filipino Community, I can't describe my sadness over those senseless bombings in the home country.

Actually, according to the UN, for the last 100 years, the Philippines is the most disaster prone country in the world: --- Volcanoes, earthquakes, storms, floods, forest fires --- not a month passes by it seems without one natural disaster occurring. To add insult to injury, many of their leaders get elected to serve themselves first and the poor people last.

The good thing is that people experienced in hardship learn to adapt, to get along very well with other people. They are so well liked around the world that they are permitted to work and contribute to the economies of more than 160 countries.

The Global Filipino Archipelago is growing in population --- now more than 7 million. A million people annually find work abroad so they can send money back home to educate and feed as many as 4 people in a household. Now comes the Cell Phone and the Internet to keep physically separated families mentally whole.

... but with all the disasters natural or otherwise occurring with increasing frequency, the Global Filipino go back to retire as early as when they reach 50. Amazing!
