Here's an anecdote from a reliable poster on the IGEN Yahoo board who has been taking Iressa:

First, for those who wish me well and wonder about my well being: A cat scan on 5/1 showed 3 generous R. lung lesions (cancer); on 7/1 I commenced a pill per day course of Iressa, a trial drug from Astra Zuneca which seemed to be helping a small percentage of takers to a substantial degree (but no cures, and in fact a trial combined with chemo has admittedly failed); on an 8/1 xray, things did appear to be stable; and on 10/1 a further CAT scan did not show 2 of the 3 lesions, and the third was somewhat reduced - by my estimate, about a 70% reduction in over all cancer mass. The doctor was giddy with excitement, even as he lavishly warned "Cancer is cunning. There have been no cures from Iressa. It can turn around on a dime and eat you up. But at least this means more time." Clinically, hills are totally exhausting for me to climb. Yesterday, I walked 1 1/2 miles, about 3 blocks of which was up a stiff grade - first time this year. So news is pretty good, and I continue to pop those pills.
