re: vtss

Well, I had them bookmarked because an old friend used to like the company pre-bubble when they were doing gallium arsenide(?) chips.

So I decided to listen to the call, you are correct they only did 38mm in revenue this quarter. But only 7 million of it was LH transport, and (believe it or not) the LH business is continuing to drop. Kinda gives you an idea of how far that market has collapsed- I know wcom was a fraud but what the hell happened to the rest of them? My theory- the upstarts got killed off and now we are left with RBOCs who are charging too much for broadband. But anyway...

The other areas they are exploiting are enterprise, optical metro and storage. Those are all new, 30mm from there. In storage they have 2gigbit, which is an expanding mkt that (they feel) they dominate. EMCs weakness is in 100mbit and 1gbit lines, the "mainstream". This 2gbit area is emerging. They also bought back a bunch of debt.

I have a small roth ira acct (well- it USED to not be too small, but thats another story!) so I look for penny stocks for that acct from time to time since I can't leverage. VTSS up 14% on a day that chips are getting killed, I'm happy with that.

But since almost everybody knows more about chips than me I'll take your caution as advice and get out with my gains quickly.
