do you suppose that the people of Iraq get full exercise of those inalienable rights?
Careful... do you take it upon yourself as an American to correct the wrongs of all nations around the world? Or do you just want to coerce other Americans to do this? This is a flimsy excuse to invade a country, unless you are willing to put yourself and your family in harm's way yourself. There are too many other important priorities. It doesn't work, and when used by the administration destroys credibility. Especially when they trump up the excuse-of-the-day. The purpose this country was founded was not to be nanny to the world. That charitable action is for the many millions of individuals from the US and around the world who care to support that, not coercive policy by self-interested politicians and businessmen who stand to gain politically and financially.
Do you really doubt that Iraq has a large WMD program? No doubt, and there are a dozen others that are further along, including our "Axis if Evil", N. Korea. Another non-starter of an excuse.
Iraq started the whole thing back when they invaded Kuwait...Hence the cease fire is null and void.
There has never been a cease fire. There has been political and military action to enforce containment of Iraq every month for 11 years, which is why they are in their current degraded technological and industrial condition.
There is no need for UN approval for the US to defend itself against attack. The controversy here is efforts by the administration to go to war without any evidence of such attack being imminent, then claiming such evidence but keeping it secret, then going through a song-and-dance for random excuses, etc. No one really believes the administration is being straightforward on this, and that there are ulterior motives including November elections, and business deals to be cut for that $1 trillion in oil. |
