I find it amazing that you could think the framers of the second amendment would start out with frivolous drivel and work their way into the issue nearest and dearest to your heart. I would think they thought long and hard about the text, all of the text. These people had just finished the experiement of barely constrained anarchy embodied in the articles of confederation and did not want to repeat the same mistakes.
