The battery on my older Dell notebook finally fried itself after about 3 years of heavy use. (This is a couple of months ago.)

I went to their website. Signed in with my email address and password. They know who I am and what products I already own.

I requested support for the old dead notebook, and it took me directly to a page from which I could get support or order accessories.

I picked a refurbished battery from the available options (they don't have much in the way of accessories after more than 3 years, but they do have batteries).

The cart already has my name, address and other info. I just had to supply a current CC number and expiration date.

The battery arrived 2 days later with an instruction sheet telling me, among other things, how to charge it the first time.

That's the difference.
