Just that someone evidently thought it was a good idea at the time. I'm probably more forgiving than most when it comes to hedges that look bad in the rear view mirror.

Don't forget that they may not be calling the shots on hedges anyway, so much as it would be the banks attempting to stabilize BTE's cash flows against their liens. I'm not up on this one in particular but I'd expect it was solely a risk management initiative rather than a price spec
