You are outlining what I've come to think of as the terms this thing will finally get settled on, if at all. One of the sadder moments of this past summer, for me at least, was reading the text of a Brookings Conference in which a comment was made by an Israeli representative, I think, to the effect that the terms you just outlined were the ones everyone involved, Israelis and Palestinians, understood would have to be the final terms. It was just that no one had a clue as to how to get there. And an awful lot of unnecessary deaths would pave the path to that destination.
