Our best hope is that Bush does "call their bluff" and move ahead at the UN, by making France or Russia veto the motion. This is also his best move from the standpoint of domestic politics, no matter what hysteria he will have to put up with from the Media. As I have said before, it will be an interesting Winter!

It would cost him something to go ahead without UNSC support, though. I suspect we have reached the point where the customer storms out of the rug store...the question is, does the merchant follow him and fetch him back? Maybe so; if Bush goes ahead without UNSC approval, France and Russia can whistle for their oil contracts.
