In a major diplomatic initiative, the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal leader Qazi Hussain Ahmad will meet the ambassadors of the US, India and European and Arabs countries on Wednesday (today) to remove their apprehensions in the wake of MMA stunning victory in the October elections.

Reportedly, the present government is pinning high hopes in this meeting and if MMA leader successfully pleads his case before his mighty critics, the military government may ask the MMA to make an alliance with the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-i-Azam-i-Azam (PML-QA) to form government at Centre.

Party sources said Qazi Hussain Ahmad was approached by the military authorities with a request to meet diplomats and address their fears and apprehensions if the MMA was going to form governments in the provinces and become a part of any coalition at the Centre.

Reportedly, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief, who is known to Qazi for a long time, has played a role in convincing him to meet the ambassadors. To keep the proceedings secret, no one from media has been invited to cover this important diplomatic initiative.

Sources said the Indian diplomat and the US ambassadors have yet to confirm their participation in the meeting with Qazi. But, the US ambassador was likely to make it, keeping in view the importance of Qazi Hussain. However, it could not be confirmed whether the Indian diplomat would turn up or not.

The sources said the main purpose of this initiative is to convince the European and Arab countries, particularly, the US that the MMA government will not be the replica of Taliban regime to whom they have openly been supporting in the past.

They said, Qazi will try to give a modern shape and approach of the MMA towards all the vital and crucial aspects of his alliance's policy about which the diplomats have serious reservations.

The sources said that Qazi would give a firm assurances to the Western diplomats that a Taliban-type government would not be allowed to run in the country and they would usher Pakistan in the modern era of development and prosperity instead of pursuing rigid policies as being feared.

The sources said the MMA leadership was also happy to find this chance to express their point of view before their staunch critics and they were hoping to convince the Western diplomats that their much-trumpeted fears about the MMA were baseless.

And the Maulvis were equally responsible political force with a vision that wanted to rule the country with a sense of responsibility and maturity instead of repeating the mistakes committed by the Taliban that finally led to their fall.
