Hi Steve, <<"High Tech in China
Is it a threat to Silicon Valley?"

Jay, what do you think?>>

I think not, because the world is big, there are lots of things to do, and Silicon Valley will simply have to move over and on to other activities.

For Silicon Valley to defend existing niche is not viable for long, nor sustainable in any way that is worth a VC investment.

The leadtime to closing of knowledge and performance (knowledge to implementation process) gap is shortening, and everyone will have to run faster, on less fat, and invent, innovate, AND copy best practices with blindingly furious energy and at increasingly ruthless pace, even while being devilishly clever.

Throwing money around again may not be the answer, because of the tech bust leading to smartened up investors.

However, I do not believe that a nondescript house in Palo Alto can maintain its current value relative to gold, nor a San Francisco programmer's annual pay relative to a share of Zimbabwe Platinum.

Chugs, Jay
