Oh, jp, you are making me nostalgic for the wonderful food I helped my grandmother put up when I was very little and could only snap beans and pull the stems off strawberries and stuff. She was a real farm woman--she grew up in Missouri and had no problem chasing a chicken around the yard with a hatchet until she caught up with it. I don't know about killing animals, but I would love to have chickens and gather eggs every morning. I love to can things and would really rather live in the country and do that than live in a city. You are so lucky to still have all those wonderful foods around you!!!
