and will file for such approval in remaining areas (MD, WV, DC)
early next year. These last few markets are important as they
represent the seat of government. Many potential business
customers (the more lucrative customer segment) maintain offices
in the DC-VA area and are currently served by VZ's competitors,
such as WorldCom. VZ's ability to snag these customer's hinges
upon their ability to offer LD service in the DC-VA area.]
