american dreamer, you're still comparing apples and oranges. You DO realize, don't you, that ANY heap leach type operation is much more expensive than GE's blockcaving of placer gold? What you need to find for comparison purposes is another large placer deposit that can be mined by similar means. Newmont looked for one for a number of years, unsuccessfully.
