well, here is why they are buying KLAC. valuation doesn't matter, only guessing what everyone else is gonna do. from RMpro:

Kass to All Short-Sellers in KLAC

I don't think you should be short KLA Tencor (KLAC:Nasdaq). The semiconductor cycle and the technology cycle are likely near or at the bottom.

I'd rather be long than short -- and I was on the same conference call that everyone else was on.

And I also pointed out the deceptive earnings release by the company.

That said, take the advice of Roy Neuberger, founder of Neuberger and Berman, "Buy stocks when the factory doors are locked, and sell stocks when it appears that P/E multiples are too low."

KLAC's order number most likely will be a cycle low figure.

I would fade all short-sellers in KLAC as, in my opinion, you are making the classic mistake: shorting the headline.

The only reason I didn't buy the stock in aftermarket trading last night was the company's apparently deceptive release.

Sorry, shorts. The French put it best, "Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose."
