There's a difference between stock scams and worthy charities

Certainly there's a difference. But at present, the rules of SI don't recognize the difference in the TOU.

Perhaps you could make a positive contribution by urging SI to make a change in their policies. That would certainly be a possible change. And I'm sure that many organizations you appreciate, such as the Sierra Club, PETA, and others, would be delighted to know that you would endorse their spamming SI with requests for support and that SI accepted such spamming.

Until then, though, it's my opinion that members of SI should follow SI's posting rules. (BTW, if you read the exchange on Laughter, you will see that I suggest to Sherry a way in which she could get the message across without needing to spam. It's called having your cake and eating it too.)

And what business is it of yours anyway?

I think it is my business, and yours, to encourage SI posters voluntarily to comply with the rules of the site. That's one of the obligations, I believe, of citizens of free societies.
